HOUSE TOUR!

So excited to show you these “before” shots.

In a perfect world, we’d gut everything and live somewhere else for six months while we do a dream renovation, but in this reality we are broke. So we’re going to go room by room, getting everything in shape, and then hopefully in a few years we’ll be able to tear out some walls and get crazy in here.

KITCHEN

The kitchen. I swear, it’s actually a kitchen. The previous owners bought this place to flip and got as far as tearing the kitchen out before they ran out of cash and put it back on the market… So this is the big project. First up, we’re going to take out the linoleum, tile it and install new cabinets. By which I mean M is going to install cabinets. (If you’re going to do a massive home renovation, I recommend marrying someone who worked in the wood shop at his college.)

BEDROOM

Our bedroom. Going to replace those windows, redo the floors, take out the ceilings so you can see the beams.

LIVING ROOM

The living room. The windows are even jankier in here, it takes both of us to get them up and down. New windows, the front door will be replaced, and eventually we’re going to knock down that back wall to combine this space with the office. (See below.)

BATHROOM

I’ll let these images speak for themselves.

FRONT YARD

Definitely some TLC to be done on the front lawn. Love that it’s native succulents, hate that it’s… dead.

BACKYARD

Back yard. Don’t know who decided it was cool to have pavement instead of plants. This is all coming up and getting replaced with terraced succulents and fruit trees.

FRONT YARD

Very excited to create a reading nook out here.

We’re going to sand and repaint all of this. Eventually I want to do Spanish tile on the steps.

GUEST BEDROOM

Guest bedroom. It’s so cozy! (That’s a nice word for “small.”) Eventually I want to re-do the floors, and put in new windows.

(For my own sanity I’m calling it the guest bedroom. As opposed to the baby’s room. Because whether or not I actually get pregnant this year it’s our house, mine and M’s — which is already a pretty good family, right?

But, baby, we are ready for you.)

THIS IS A LOT OF WORK!

Thanks for being here. Please post below with your ideas! It’s a blank slate — what would you do???
